What is restorative dentistry?

Restorative dentistry, also referred to as mouth reconstruction or a smile makeover, refers to the integrated management of oral health problems. It includes dental crowns, caps, and veneers used to restore functionality and aesthetics. The ultimate goal of restorative dentistry is to replace missing teeth while preserving the natural teeth as much as possible.

How does dental restoration work?

Dental restoration is made up of a bunch of different dental services unique to your dental situation and smile goals.

Testing

Our dental team starts by running a bunch of tests to determine any and all dental issues that need to be fixed.

Custom Dental Plan

Based on your test results, we’ll recommend a custom dental plan that includes all necessary dental treatments that will help you reach your smile goals.

We will then schedule you in for the necessary dental treatments. This step could take as little as a few weeks or up to a few months depending on the type and number of treatments needed.

Why is restorative dentistry important?

Restorative dentistry is important because it improves your overall dental health by reducing the risk of oral health problems such as gum disease and cavities.

For example, replacing missing teeth is important because gaps are vulnerable to plaque-causing bacteria which can cause cavities and tooth decay. Additionally, missing teeth will put unnatural stress on your remaining teeth. Eventually, this can shift their natural alignment and potentially cause a collapsed bite and loss of vertical dimension. Overall, dental restoration restores your teeth to their natural, healthy state.

Benefits Of Restorative Dental Procedures

1. Conservation of tooth structure: We believe that one of the most crucial aspects of good dentistry is the conservation of your natural tooth structure. Restorative dental procedures allow us to treat the tooth in question by removing only the decay and undermined tooth structure, while maintaining the integrity of your remaining natural tooth.

  1. Improved appearance: Restorative dentistry techniques will dramatically improve the appearance and function of your smile. Fixing cracked or damaged teeth gives you the confidence to show off that wonderful grin.
  2. Improve functionality: In restoring the contour of your teeth, procedures such as dental bridges can improve your speech and the bite between your upper and lower teeth.
